Build an app with Onplana Maker

All plans Member

Onplana Maker is the standalone app builder built on Onplana. You describe the app you want in plain language, an agent writes it and runs it live in a secure sandbox, and one click publishes it to a shareable onplana.app URL. Unlike a bare chat-window builder, every Maker app sits on a real Onplana project, with a plan, an issue log, and a files area.

Maker is usage-based: free credit to start, and one credit wallet that builds, AI edits, and hosting all draw from (the Free plan is also capped at 25 builds a day). There are no seats and no subscription required.

  1. Sign up at maker.onplana.com. Email and password or Google / Microsoft sign-in both work. If you already belong to Onplana workspaces, Maker offers them first, use a workspace you already belong to or create a separate one just for Maker. Your apps and credits live in whichever workspace you pick and are visible to its members, so a personal workspace is the right call for personal projects. (Workspaces where you’re a guest aren’t offered, guests can’t create projects.)

  2. Click New project and pick a path:

    • Describe an app, the agent builds it right away. You land in the Build view with your description pre-filled.
    • Start with a plan, AI drafts the project steps first, and you build later (or never; some projects stay plans).
  3. In Build, describe what you want or pick a starter, then press Build it. The agent writes the app and runs it live in the preview.

Have a design in mind? Paste or drag a screenshot straight into the box (or use the paperclip), and the agent builds to match it, “make it look like this”. You can attach a few images per build; they show in your Files tab and guide the build without being shipped inside the app itself.

  4. Keep talking to refine it: change the colors, make it work on phones, add a feature. Tick Make it better when a change deserves a deeper build. A build costs the tokens it actually uses, so a deeper build usually costs more.

  5. When you are happy, follow Go live. Your app publishes to https://<name>.onplana.app, a real URL you can share with anyone. You can roll back to an earlier published version at any time.

Every Maker project has five views:

ViewWhat it holds
BuildThe agent, the live preview, and the publish controls.
PlanA living to-do list. Agreed build steps become checkable items, and the agent ticks off its own work. You can rename, reorder, add steps and substeps, and send any step straight to Build with one click.
IssuesProblems the agent hits during a build land here instead of vanishing into chat history.
FilesBriefs, assets, and reference docs that stay with the project.
SubmissionsWhat your published app has collected. If your app has a form, every submission lands in a list you can open here, with its received time, and export to Excel. Read-only by design, editing and deeper list work live in the full Onplana app, and the export covers everything the view doesn’t show.
  • You start with included AI credit, and every build draws the tokens it uses from your credit wallet; top up from $5 on the Billing page. The Free plan is additionally capped at 25 builds a day. Purchased credit is valid for 90 days and is spent before your included credit; credit you earn (referrals and rewards) never expires.
  • Publishing is included. Free apps carry a small “Made with Onplana” badge; activating premium hosting removes it. Premium hosting renews from the same credit wallet, if the wallet cannot cover a renewal, there is a grace period before the app returns to the free tier (badge back, still live) or unpublishes. See Keep your app live with premium hosting for the full lifecycle.
  • The Billing page also has a Get free credit section, share Onplana or follow along on social platforms and claim a small credit reward for each.

Maker projects are real Onplana projects. Choose Open in Onplana (from the account menu, or a project’s overflow menu) and the same project opens in the full Onplana workspace, already signed in, with people, timelines, and every other Onplana capability available. Nothing to migrate.

Is Maker a separate account from Onplana? No. It is the same account and the same platform, Maker is a focused surface over it. A Maker workspace appears as an organization in the full app.

Do I need to know how to code? No. You describe what you want; the agent writes and runs the code. If you do want the code, you can export it from the Build view.

What happens when I run out of credit? Top up the wallet from $5, claim the free-credit rewards on the Billing page, or upgrade your Onplana plan for a much larger included credit and no daily cap.

Can I show the agent a screenshot or a design? Yes. Paste an image into the Build box, drag it in, or use the paperclip. The agent looks at it and builds to match, great for “recreate this UI” or “match these colors”. Attached images live in your Files tab as design references and are never shipped into the published app.

Can my whole team use a Maker project? Open it in the full Onplana workspace, that is where teammates, roles, and collaboration live. Maker itself stays a solo, focused building surface.
