Invite a teammate from your AI assistant
A plan built in chat is only half done until the people on it are in the workspace. Ask your assistant to invite them, in the same conversation:
Invite priya@example.com and tom@example.com to the workspace as members. The assistant sends each person Onplana’s standard invitation email, the same one People > Invite sends. It works from ChatGPT, Claude and any other assistant connected to Onplana, and from the AI assistant inside Onplana.
What happens when you ask
Section titled “What happens when you ask”- The invitation is in your name. The email names you, replies go to you, and People lists you as the person who invited them. The assistant never invites as itself.
- Nobody joins until they accept. The person gets an email link and joins when they accept it. Until then the invitation waits under People > Members > Pending Invitations, where you can resend or revoke it, as in Track pending invitations.
- Member or Guest. The assistant invites at a Member seat unless you ask for a Guest. A guest sees only the projects they are added to. For a member seat you can also name the role (Admin, Portfolio Manager or Member), never a role above the one the assistant is acting with.
- Asking again sends a fresh link. Re-inviting an address that is already waiting replaces its link, the same as Resend. An address that already belongs to a member is refused.
Before your assistant can connect at all, you approve it once in the browser. The approval screen lists inviting teammates by email among the things it may do.
Who can invite
Section titled “Who can invite”The assistant follows the same rule as the People page.
- On the Free plan, any member who is not a Guest can invite people at a Member or Guest seat. A connected assistant acts as a Member by default, so it can invite on Free without any change.
- On a paid plan, inviting needs the Invite people to the organization permission, Portfolio Manager and up by default. A connected assistant acts as a Member unless your organization raised its role, so it is usually refused here and says so. Send the invitation from People if you hold that permission, or ask an Admin to send it or to raise the assistant’s role on the People page. The assistant inside Onplana acts with your own role, so it can invite whenever you can.
Your email address must be verified to invite anyone, and a demo workspace sends no invitations.
Seats and the member limit
Section titled “Seats and the member limit”On a paid plan, each person who joins at a Member seat takes a paid seat. A Guest inside your plan’s free guest seats costs nothing.
Every plan has a member limit, and it counts the people already in the workspace plus the invitations still waiting. When an invitation would go past it, the assistant says the limit is reached and nothing is sent. On the Free plan, where the workspace can still try Professional, the assistant can pass on a link to start the 14-day Professional trial, which raises the limit. An organization Owner starts the trial in Onplana; nothing changes until they do.
Can the assistant add someone straight to a project? It invites them to the workspace. Once they accept, ask it to add them to the project, or add them yourself. To send one invitation that brings someone into a project as well, use the project’s Add Members dialog, as in Inviting from inside a project.
Can I take an invitation back? Yes. Open People > Members > Pending Invitations and select Revoke. The emailed link stops working at once.
Does the person need an Onplana account? No. Someone new creates an account from the invitation link. Someone who already has one joins when they accept. See Join a workspace by invitation.
