Work from My Work
My Work is the first item in the sidebar and the first thing most members open each day. It answers one question, “what needs me?”, across every project you are on: the tasks assigned to you, the issues you own, the places you were @mentioned, the reviews waiting on your decision, and anything that has slipped past its due date. Nothing on the page is configured; it fills itself from your existing work.
Everyone in the organization gets My Work, on every plan. Guests see it too, though most tabs stay empty until work is assigned to them.
The seven tabs
Section titled “The seven tabs”Each tab carries a count badge, and the summary line under the page title totals your open work in one sentence (or tells you “You’re all caught up”).
- All. Everything from the other tabs on one page, grouped into sections ordered by urgency: Overdue first, then Pending reviews, Open issues, Mentions, and finally Your tasks. This is the triage view; start here in the morning.
- Tasks. Every open task assigned to you, across all your projects, ordered soonest-due first, in a table showing project, due date (color-coded as it approaches), and status. Subtasks assigned to you count as your work too, and a task drops off the page when you complete it. Hover a row for a card with the description, priority, progress, and comment and attachment counts; click a row to open the task inside its project. The list loads 50 tasks at a time up to 200, after which a link routes you to the Projects page to browse exhaustively.
- Calendar. The same tasks as the Tasks tab, laid out on a date grid so you can see the shape of your week. Chips are labelled with the task title; switch to Week view (or hover a chip in Month view) to see which project each one comes from. Clicking one opens that task’s edit dialog in place, already scoped to the right project. See Use calendar and burndown views for the project-level version.
- Issues. Open issues you own or reported, across every project, with severity, status, and age. A resolved issue drops off the list on its own. See Track issues for the full Issue Log.
- Mentions. Places teammates @mentioned you in the last 30 days, each with a snippet and a link straight to the underlying task, project, or proposal. See Comment and mention.
- Reviews. Proposal gate reviews where you are a designated reviewer and your decision is still pending. Each row links to the proposal; hover for its stage, priority, and submitter. See Review a gate.
- Reminders. Assigned tasks whose due date has passed and which are not yet Done. You never create a reminder; the tab derives them from your task list, so completing or rescheduling a task clears its reminder instantly.
Filter and search your tasks
Section titled “Filter and search your tasks”A search box in the header filters whichever tab is active, and your query survives tab switches. It matches task titles, project names, and descriptions (and, on the other tabs, mention snippets and proposal titles), entirely in the browser with no waiting on the server.
On the Tasks tab, a row of filter chips narrows the list further:
- Project, any project you have tasks in.
- Status, To Do, In Progress, Review, Done, or Blocked.
- Priority, Critical, High, Medium, or Low.
- Due, Overdue, Due today, Next 7 days, or No due date.
A “Showing X of Y tasks” counter and a Clear filters link keep you oriented. “Overdue” and “Due today” compare calendar days in your own timezone, and a completed task never counts as overdue.
Link straight to a tab
Section titled “Link straight to a tab”The active tab is part of the URL, so /my-work?tab=reviews opens
Reviews directly, and switching tabs updates the address bar. Valid
values are all, tasks, calendar, issues, mentions,
reviews, and reminders. Bookmark the one you live in, or share a
link that lands a teammate on the right tab.
Task-filter parameters work in links too: ?status=, ?priority=,
?due= (overdue, today, week, or no-date), and ?project=
pre-set the Tasks filters on arrival. This is how the Dashboard’s
Overdue and Due Today tiles deep-link here already. These filter
parameters are read once when the page opens and are not written back
as you refine, so the link stays a clean “starting state”.
How this differs from the notification bell
Section titled “How this differs from the notification bell”The bell in the top bar and My Work overlap, but they answer different questions:
- The bell is a chronological stream of everything Onplana notifies you about, which you read and mark as read. Once read, an item’s job is done.
- Mentions is the slice of that stream where someone called on you by name, kept for 30 days and linked to the exact task, project, or proposal, so a mention you saw but did not act on is still findable tomorrow.
- Reviews shows only decisions that are still waiting on you. A review leaves the tab when you decide it, not when you read about it.
- Reminders are not notifications at all. They are computed live from your task list, so there is nothing to dismiss; fixing the task (finish it or move its date) is what clears the reminder.
In short: the bell tells you what happened; My Work tells you what still needs you.
A five-minute morning triage
Section titled “A five-minute morning triage”- Open My Work and read the summary line under the title. If it says you are all caught up, you are done.
- On the All tab, work the sections top to bottom: clear or reschedule anything Overdue, decide Pending reviews, then scan Open issues and Mentions for anything blocking a teammate.
- Switch to Tasks, set the Due filter to Due today, and you have your working list for the day.
Best practices
Section titled “Best practices”- Trust the Reminders tab over your memory. It is derived from real due dates, so it cannot forget. If it is regularly long, the fix is not to work faster, it is to set due dates you actually believe when tasks are created.
- Use the Due filter instead of scrolling. “Due today” and “Next 7 days” turn a two-hundred-row backlog into a working list in one click, and the filter survives tab switches.
- Treat Mentions as a second inbox. A mention is a teammate waiting on you. Reading it in the bell leaves it on this tab for the full 30 days, so one you saw but did not act on is still here tomorrow. Dismissing it in the bell deletes the notification outright, and it leaves this tab with it.
- Bookmark your tab. If you are a gate reviewer, bookmark
/my-work?tab=reviews; if you triage issues, bookmark/my-work?tab=issues. The tab is in the URL for exactly this.
Troubleshooting / common pitfalls
Section titled “Troubleshooting / common pitfalls”- The Tasks tab shows work I never accepted. If nothing is assigned to you yet, My Work shows the unassigned open tasks in projects you own instead, with a banner saying so. Assign those tasks to yourself and the list switches to real assignments; assign them to a teammate and they simply leave your list.
- The Calendar or All tab looks incomplete. The Tasks-tab filters and the search box shape those views too. Open the Tasks tab and select Clear filters, then clear the search box.
- The Reviews tab is always empty. Gate reviews require Enterprise governance, and rows appear only when you are designated as a reviewer on a pending gate. If your organization runs governance and you expect reviews, ask an admin to check the gate reviewer lists under Organization Settings.
- A task due today is showing as overdue (or the reverse). Due-date urgency is compared by calendar day in your device’s timezone. Check your system clock and timezone before assuming the date on the task is wrong.
- I set the Status filter to Done and nothing shows. My Work loads open work only; completing a task removes it from the page. Finished tasks live on inside their project’s views and reports.
- A task from a finished project is still in my list. That is deliberate. Closing a project does not close its open tasks, and those loose ends stay visible here until each task is completed.
Does My Work show tasks from every project I am in? Yes. It aggregates across all your projects; there is no per-project setup. Use the Project filter chip on the Tasks tab to focus on one.
Can I create a task from My Work? No, tasks are created inside a project (clicking any row takes you there). My Work is a reading and triage surface. See Work with tasks.
Why do the tab badges change when I type in the search box? The badges count what each tab would show right now, including your search and filters. The summary line under the page title always shows the unfiltered totals.
I am a Guest. Why is My Work mostly empty? Guests see My Work like everyone else, but the tabs only fill with work assigned to you, issues you own or reported, and mentions of you. An empty page means nothing needs you yet.
Do reminders include timesheets or capacity? Not today. Reminders are overdue assigned tasks. Timesheet reminders arrive through notifications when your organization enables timesheet enforcement.
