Use Onplana in Google Calendar
Onplana Tasks for Google Calendar is a free add-on that puts the work assigned to you in a panel beside your calendar. You see what is due without opening another tab, tick tasks off as you finish them, and add a task or an issue while it is on your mind.
What you get in Calendar
Section titled “What you get in Calendar”- My tasks. Everything assigned to you across your projects, grouped by when it is due: Overdue, Today, This week, Later and No date. Overdue work comes first.
- Tick it off. The checkbox on a task marks it done in Onplana, with the same permissions and rules as the web app.
- Open in Onplana. Select a task to open it in Onplana on the web. View all opens your full task list.
- Quick add. Add a task (assigned to you, in a project you pick or with no project) or an issue, without leaving Calendar.
- Issues. The Issues tab lists the open issues you own or reported, newest first.
- Switch workspace. If you belong to more than one Onplana workspace, the panel’s menu switches between them.
The panel follows your Calendar language.
Install the add-on
Section titled “Install the add-on”-
Open the Onplana Tasks listing on the Google Workspace Marketplace and select Install. You can also find it from Google Calendar: open the side panel, select Get add-ons, and search for Onplana Tasks.
-
Review the permissions Google shows and allow them. They are listed under What the add-on reads below.
-
Open Google Calendar on the web and select the Onplana Tasks icon in the side panel on the right.
A Google Workspace admin can also install it for everyone in the domain, or for chosen organizational units, from the Google Admin console.
Connect your Onplana account
Section titled “Connect your Onplana account”The first time you open the panel, it asks you to connect your Onplana account. This happens once.
-
Select Connect Onplana in the panel. A sign-in window opens.
-
Select Sign in and sign in to Onplana the way you usually do.
-
Select Continue with Google and choose the same Google account you use in Calendar. This proves the Calendar account is yours, and nothing is linked until it matches.
-
When the window says your accounts are linked, close it. The panel shows your tasks.
What the add-on reads
Section titled “What the add-on reads”The add-on asks Google for three permissions:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Your Google account email and basic profile | To know which Onplana account the panel belongs to. |
| Run as a Calendar add-on | So the panel can appear in Google Calendar. |
| Your Calendar language setting | So the panel speaks your language. |
It does not read your calendar, your events or your email, and Onplana stores no Google tokens for it. It stores which Google account is linked to your Onplana account, until you delete your account. The details are in the privacy policy.
Workspaces the add-on cannot open
Section titled “Workspaces the add-on cannot open”If a workspace restricts sign-in to an IP allowlist, or requires two-step verification, the panel shows a notice for that workspace instead of its tasks. Calendar cannot prove either requirement, so the add-on refuses rather than weaken them. Use Onplana on the web for that workspace. Your other workspaces still work in the panel.
Remove or turn off the add-on
Section titled “Remove or turn off the add-on”- For yourself: uninstall Onplana Tasks from your apps on the Google Workspace Marketplace. To also take back the permissions you granted, remove Onplana Tasks under Third-party apps and services in your Google Account.
- For your domain: a Google Workspace admin uninstalls it, or blocks it for some or all users, in the Google Admin console under Apps > Google Workspace Marketplace apps.
Does it cost anything? No. The add-on is free and works on every Onplana plan.
Does it change my calendar? No. It does not read or create calendar events. It shows and updates your Onplana work only.
Why does a task I just added not appear in the list? The list shows your first 20 tasks, and tasks with no due date sort last. A task you add from the panel is pinned in a Just added section at the top until the next refresh, and it is always in Onplana on the web.
Is there a phone app? Yes. On a phone, use Onplana Tasks for iPhone or Android, which show the same assigned work.
