Open a demo workspace and come back to it

All plansAnyone, no account needed

A demo workspace is a full Onplana workspace, already filled with sample projects, a team and data, that you can open from the website without creating an account. It is your own copy: change anything you like. It is deleted 24 hours after you open it, and nothing in it moves to an Onplana account.

There are two demos, each opened from its own page on onplana.com:

  • Onplana projects, from onplana.com/demo-workspace. Choose the plan it opens on: Professional, Business or Enterprise. Business is the default.
  • Onplana Services, from the demo section of onplana.com/services. It shows a sample consultancy with clients, a pipeline with quotes, logged time, expenses and margin, and opens on Business.
  1. Enter your work email address. Company and role are optional.
  2. Complete the captcha check.
  3. Press Open the demo workspace. The demo opens in the Onplana app, signed in as the sample workspace’s owner.

A strip across the top of every page says you are in a demo and how many hours are left before it is deleted. It also carries:

  • Plan (the projects demo only). Switch the demo to another plan to see what each one adds or removes. The sample data stays the same. In a demo, storage stays at 1 GB and AI use is fixed, whatever the plan.
  • Link back to this demo, described below.
  • Compare plans, which opens the pricing page in a new tab.
  • Create your free workspace, which leaves the demo for the sign-up page with your address filled in. Your new workspace starts empty: nothing you built in the demo comes across, and the demo cannot be opened again afterwards.

A few things that reach outside the workspace are turned off in a demo: inviting people, publishing an app to a live address, emailing a report, sharing by email or by public link, letting people outside ask for access, and billing. When you try one, the message says so and points you to a free workspace, where it works.

Closing the tab does not end the demo. It stays until it is deleted, and there are three ways back to the same demo, none of which opens a second one.

Press Link back to this demo on the strip. The dialog shows your link, how long it works (until the demo is deleted), and Copy link. Save the link, then open it in any browser to return to the demo.

When demo emails are switched on, the dialog also offers Email it to me, which sends the link to the address you gave when you opened the demo. If that address cannot receive our email, or the link has already been sent a few times in the last hour, the dialog says so; copy the link instead.

When demo emails are switched on, the form says it will email you a link back, and the email arrives when the demo opens. The link works until the demo is deleted.

When demo emails are switched on, enter the same address on the same page while its demo is still open, and we email that demo’s link to you again instead of opening a new demo. The page says so. Nothing signs you in from the form, so the link only reaches the inbox of the address that was entered.

The link opens a page on app.onplana.com that signs you in to the demo. If you are signed in to your own Onplana account in that browser, it asks first, because opening the demo signs you out of it.

The link stops working when:

  • The demo has been deleted. Open a new one from onplana.com.
  • You left the demo with Create your free workspace. Sign in to your workspace instead.

When the app offers your workspace an Enterprise trial, the offer banner also has Or look around a demo workspace, which opens a demo in a new tab. That demo has no link to copy or email. Its strip has Close demo instead, which closes the tab and leaves your own workspace signed in, and the same banner button opens the same demo again until it is deleted.

Is a demo the same as a free trial? No. A demo is sample data that is deleted after 24 hours. A free workspace is yours to keep and starts empty.

Can I move what I built in the demo into my own workspace? No. Nothing in a demo moves to an Onplana account.

Can I invite a colleague to my demo? Inviting is turned off in a demo. You can share the link back, but anyone who opens it is signed in as the same sample owner, so treat it like a password.

I opened a demo and lost the tab. How do I get back? Use the link from the banner if you saved it, the emailed link, or enter the same address on the same page again to have the link emailed.
