Ask the owner to upgrade

All plansAdmin, Manager or Member without billing access

Admins meet most plan locks (Audit Logs, Governance, SSO, Portfolios and the rest), but buying a plan is an Owner’s job. So when a feature is locked and you cannot open Billing, the lock offers a button instead of a dead end: Ask name to upgrade, with the Owner’s name on it. One press tells the Owner which feature you wanted and which plan unlocks it.

Anyone in the workspace who cannot manage billing: Admins, Managers and Members, unless the Owner has given their role billing access in the permissions matrix. An Owner, or anyone who can manage billing, sees the usual Upgrade button (or the 14-day trial) on the same lock instead.

The button appears on a locked feature’s page and on the note beside a locked control. If the workspace has more than one Owner, it reads Ask the owner to upgrade. The project and member limits still say that your organization owner can upgrade the plan.

  1. Open the locked feature, for example Governance on a Free workspace.

  2. Select Ask name to upgrade.

  3. A message confirms it was sent, and the lock now reads You asked name to upgrade. It stays that way when you come back.

You can ask once per feature every 14 days. Asking for a different feature is a separate ask.

Every Owner of the workspace gets a notification in the bell, titled with your name and the feature, saying which plan you asked for. The plan is the first one above your workspace’s plan that includes the feature. Its link opens Organization Settings → Billing on that plan, so the Owner can upgrade from there.

The same message arrives by email when the Owner has Approvals and form submissions turned on in their notification preferences, which is the default.

Nothing is bought or started by the ask itself. The Owner decides on the Billing tab.
